In a bit of surprising news, Deadline has reported that Ryan Gosling is in early development to produce a Flintstones reboot film for Warner Bros., with a focus on Bamm-Bamm Rubble.
According to the trade, Gosling is developing the project with his producing partner, Jessie Henderson, and the two are currently looking for a writer to pen this rather unusual feature about a highly popular character from the iconic Hanna-Barbera series. Bamm-Bamm even had his own spin-off show with Pebbles, The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show, so making a movie centered on their relationship isn’t that far off.
This would be the first time a Flintstones-related film made it to the screen since Brian Levant‘s The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas, which served as a prequel to the 1994 live-action adaptation. Both films were poorly received by critics, but the first-ever transposition of the cartoon was a massive box-office success. Gosling’s talents could make a movie like this work, but whether he will ultimately star in it remains to be seen.
He is currently attached to star in Shawn Levy‘s Star Wars: Starfighter, which will release on May 28 of next year, and Ghost Rider, set to be released on July 28, 2028. There are also reports that he is in talks to potentially star in a sequel to Greta Gerwig‘s Barbie, but development has seemingly stalled. His next endeavor will be the Rachel Morrison-directed Love of Your Life, which he and Henderson are executive producing, and it will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival before its release on Prime Video in October.
