Despite being just fourteen years old, Jacob Tremblay has already carved out quite a start to his career. Room generated Academy Award buzz for Tremblay, but that was just the beginning. Since then, he’s been seen in work like Before I Wake, The Book of Henry, The Death and Life of John F. Donovan, Doctor Sleep, Good Boys, The Predator, Shut In, and Wonder. That’s a hell of a resume for a young man. Now, with his leading voice role in the Disney/Pixar effort Luca, he’s about to reach new heights. Having seen and really liked the film, it was a no-brainer to accept the opportunity to speak with the young man about his voice work.
For those wondering, this was my tweet about the movie, once I saw it:
Below, you can see my short chat with Tremblay. I made sure to briefly bring up Good Boys, having really enjoyed that flick. As you’d imagine, however, Luca was the focus, and it was really interesting to listen to him. Even though he’s just a teenager, Tremblay has seen and done a lot in the business already, so he offers up an interesting perspective. So, it was really fascinating to talk with him. Plus, any chance to talk Pixar with someone is a chance I won’t ever turn down. Luca is destined to be another huge success for the company, and Tremblay is no small reason why. More when my review drops next week, but definitely check out the Youtube link to my talk with Tremblay. It’s not long, but there’s some good stuff there…
Here now is my interview with Luca star Jacob Tremblay. Enjoy:
