A powerful ensemble cast leads in Eternals, directed by the now two-time Oscar-winner Chloé Zhao. It is currently scheduled to hit theaters only on November 5 and will be Marvel’s third film released this year after Black Widow and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
The story follows the Eternals, a race of powerful immortal beings who have secretly resided on Earth for thousands of years, as they reunite to protect the planet from evil Deviants.
The film’s stacked ensemble cast includes the likes of Selma Hayek, Gemma Chan, Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Brian Tyree Henry, Kit Harington, and Barry Keoghan.
Chloé Zhao joined to co-write and direct the project in September 2018, a little over a year after the premier of her breakthrough indie hit film, The Rider, at Cannes. Around this time, too, she began to film Nomadland, which recently took the Oscars by storm and won three major awards: Best Actress for Frances McDormand, Best Director for Zhao, and Best Picture– where Zhao and McDormand picked up another win. With her directorial skill and craftsmanship, and with such a powerful ensemble cast, Eternals is destined to be a big theatrical player this fall.
Coincidentally Zhao is not mentioned in the teaser trailer a fact that Film Twitter quickly picked up on.
