The time has come for a new champion to take the throne and that champion is… a fuzzy little bear who loves marmalade.
Yes, the rumors are true, the one and only Citizen Kane has officially been taken down by none other than Paddington 2 for the title of top-rated film on Rotten Tomatoes.
An 80-year-old review of Orson Welles’ directorial debut from the Chicago Tribune’s Mae Tinée was unearthed on Tuesday, knocking Citizen Kane off of its 100% perfect score and down to a measly 99%.
Those kind of paltry numbers simply can’t compete with the likes of the most lovable bear there ever was, as Paul King’s adored sequel has never wavered from its perfect 100% and took the opportunity to take its rightful seat above all challengers.
What does this mean for the upcoming Paddington 3? The first Paddington holds a 97% score, and the second is now officially, undeniably, legally proven to be the greatest film of all-time, so where does the series go from here? That’s for Paddington to know, and for us to find out!
