‘Small Axe’ Leads the BAFTA TV Awards Nominations

If you thought awards season was over now that the Oscars have concluded for another year, think again. Emmy season is right around the corner, and with that in mind it’s time to check out the BAFTA TV nominations which were just announced today.

Among the heavy hitters from the nominees are Small Axe from Steve McQueen, which landed the highest tally of 15 nominations. The Crown was next in line with 10 nominations, although one of the biggest, most surprising snubs of the nominations came in the lack of recognition for Golden Globe winner Emma Corin and her portrayal of Princess Diana.

Another big contender that many will be happy to see here (although perhaps not the HFPA) is Michaela Coel’s sensational HBO limited series I May Destroy You, which after controversially being snubbed by the Golden Globes managed to scoop up a whopping eight nominations from the BAFTAs.

The BAFTA TV Awards ceremony will take place on June 6th, while the craft awards will be streamed on May 24th.
