Dwayne Johnson is the Latest HCA Honoree!

The Hollywood Critics Association (HCA) have announced that Dwayne Johnson will be given the “HCA Trailblazer Award” at their 4th Annual HCA Film Awards ceremony. The ceremony will stream virtually on the official HCA Facebook page and YouTube channel beginning at 5pm PT/8pm ET on Friday, March 5th.

The Trailblazer Award was created “to highlight and celebrate actors and filmmakers who not only speak out about important topics, but are advocates for change”.

Johnson is, of course, one of the most prolific and beloved movie stars in the industry today, the self-described “franchise Viagra” who has featured in everything from the Fast and the Furious franchise to Jumanji and so much more. Currently airing on NBC is the sitcom Young Rock, based on events throughout his life. The HCA is using this award to highlight his success as an entrepreneur and social media giant, along with the ways that he has used his fame to benefit others.

In a statement, HCA Chariman Scott Menzel said, “Dwayne Johnson epitomizes everything our Trailblazer Award stands for. He goes above and beyond on many things in the world that actually matter and uses his voice to do good in a time most needed. We at the HCA can definitely ‘Smell what The Rock is Cookin’ and are incredibly honored to present him with this year’s award!”

The HCA announced the full list of nominees for their ceremony on February 2nd, which you can see here. The winners will be announced during the virtual ceremony on March 5th.
