Interview: Tami Reiker Talks Cinematography and ‘One Night in Miami…’

Cinematographers in Hollywood are almost exclusively male. So, any chance you can talk to someone with a female perspective from that section of the industry, you don’t want to pass that up. Plus, any DP who shot such varied works as The Old Guard and One Night in Miami…, you know that they have something interesting to share. Tami Reiker sure fits that mold, and then some. So, given the opportunity to chat with her last week, it was an absolute pleasure to hop on the phone with her. Reiker has been filming in this COVID age as well, so that’s a whole other set of observations and stories to share.

Below you can find my conversation with Tami Reiker. In addition to The Old Guard and One Night in Miami…, we talk about movies from her career like Pieces of April. Plus, there’s quite a bit about cinematography in general, so if you a cinematography junkie, this is a fun discussion. Reiker is a fascinating woman, easy to talk to and full of stories. So, this was a really interesting chat, one that had the time fly by. A half hour went by in the blink of an eye. Be sure to enjoy my interview with Reiker, but also be sure to check out the flick on Prime Video this Friday. If you haven’t been able to see it in theaters, this is your chance to enjoy the film in the comfort of your own home!

Enjoy my interview with Tami Reiker:

Be sure to check out One Night in Miami!
