Justice is on Trial in First Look at ‘American Skin’

Vertical Entertainment has released the trailer and poster for its new film American Skin, which will premiere on VOD on January 15th, 2021. American Skin centers on a Black Iraqi War Vet seeking answers and justice in the wake of his teenage shot’s death at the hands of a white police officer.

Nate Parker, whose directorial debut The Birth of a Nation won the U.S. Dramatic Competition Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival in 2016, was honored with the Filming Italy Award when his sophomore effort made its premiere at last year’s Venice Film Festival. Parker stars along with Omari Hardwick, Beau Knapp, Theo Rossi, Shane Paul McGhie, Milauna Jackson, and Tony Espinosa. Billed as a Spike Lee Presentation, American Skin is described as a “layered story in the tradition of Sidney Lumet’s 12 Angry Men and Dog Day Afternoon.”
