Deadline is reporting a potentially tragic story out of production on The Batman: Part II, which has been placed on hold due to a personal matter that director Matt Reeves needs to step away from and directly address.
DC Studios is supportive:
Production on The Batman: Part II has been temporarily paused while Matt Reeves focuses on a family matter. Matt has the full support of DC Studios and we look forward to continuing the journey soon.
This movie has already been suffering through multiple rounds of release delays and an uncertain future in light of the Warner Bros. Discovery acquisition that was finalized earlier today, though honestly, who cares if this latest news leads to another delay? Hopefully, Reeves is not having to deal with a personal issue on the scale of the horrific tragedy Zack and Deborah Snyder faced during production on Justice League. Our concern should be with him and his loved ones above anything or anyone else, and to hope for whatever crisis he’s going through to be resolved in his family’s best interests.
If you are currently on social media whining about what this means for The Batman: Part II, and posting stuff like this:
I want to be clear, here:
YOU’RE AN ASSHOLE.
There are more important things going on here than the release date of some superhero movie. It can wait.
