First Trailer for ‘The Unknown’ Releases Ahead of Telluride and TIFF Premieres

The first trailer for The Unknown has been released online as the film makes its way to the fall festival circuit, first at Telluride, then at the Toronto International Film Festival. Written and directed by Arthur Harari and co-written by Lucas Harari and David Poymiro, the film is an adaptation of Arthur and Lucas’ own graphic novel, Le cas David Zimmerman.

The film stars Léa Seydoux, Niels Schneider, Valérie Dréville, Victoire Du Bois, Lilith Grasmug, and Radu Jude.

Here is the plot synopsis:

“David is a Parisian photographer. Something of a loner, he becomes curious about a young woman he encounters on an assignment. That night, at a drug-fueled party, David locks eyes with her across the room and follows her. By the morning, David wakes up in the young woman’s body. From writer-director Arthur Harari, Academy Award-winning co-writer of Anatomy of a Fall, comes a mesmerizing and intriguing story of identity displacement — the story of a man who ceases being himself, only to become someone else… or possibly no one at all.”

While no release date has been announced yet, the movie premieres today at Telluride, and there is hope that NEON will give The Unknown an awards-qualifying run before the end of the year, with further expansion in 2027.
