As the box office for Curry Barker‘s Obsession continues to defy all expectations, as well as historical norms, a different record has now fallen. The horror hit has become the highest grossing film festival acquisition of all time, which is something to really behold. More on the honor below, including the title it passed.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, as of yesterday, the global box office haul for Obsession is $225.5 million, which passes the $222 million worldwide gross of Michael Moore‘s Fahrenheit 9/11 back in 2004. Barker’s movie was picked up by Focus Featured last year out of the Toronto International Film Festival, with major dividends being paid. This is just the next one. Congrats to all on the milestone.
