Billy Joel is a legend and one of the bigger musicians not really to have ever had Hollywood come calling for the movie treatment. Once the documentary Billy Joel: And So It Goes came out last year and was so well received, a biopic felt inevitable. Well, it’s now happening. More below.
According to Variety, John Ottman is working on a Joel biopic. The editor turned director will helm the project, which is currently casting. The film will focus on his early and formative years, which were some of the most surprising elements of the documentary for audiences. Additionally, it will be told through the eyes of Joel’s first manager Irwin Mazur, who was responsible for discovering him. Stay tuned for how this turns out, but the Piano Man is getting the biopic treatment.
