‘The Blair Witch Project’ Reboot Will Have Original Filmmakers and Stars Involved

The Blair Witch Project is one of the great film phenomenons, not just for horror, but for independent cinema on the whole. However, efforts to launch a franchise proved far less successful, as the sequel, Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, and the more recent sequel, Blair Witch, never quite hit. At the same time, the makers of those movies never got any of the people who made the first film a juggernaut involved. Well, with a remake in the works, that appears to be a different story now.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, while Dylan Clark is directing and re-writing a screenplay from Chris Thomas Devlin, many of the original movie’s talents will be involved as executive producers. That means original co-stars Joshua Leonard and Michael C. Williams are on board, as are the filmmaking team of Eduardo Sánchez, Daniel Myrick, and Gregg Hale. So, while the reboot is still a question mark, quality wise, it has done the work to not just get the original creatives compensated, but hopefully involved to assure this one holds up. Stay tuned for more.
