James Gunn Says ‘The Authority’ Movie Won’t Happen Anytime Soon for DC

James Gunn is far from shy about sharing what’s going on in the world of the DC Universe. He’s currently working on the Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow, while Supergirl is the next DC release later on this year, but fans often ask about several of the other in development projects. One such film, an adaptation of The Authority comic, was announced, yet currently is on the back burner. More below.

According to Variety, work on The Authority has been paused. Gunn stated The script wasn’t quite there but more importantly it didn’t work in terms of the larger DCU both in terms of the story and practical concerns. Maybe some day. Not soon.” Now, there’s development ongoing with movie projects like Booster Gold, but this one is at least paused, if not outright dead. Stay tuned to see what happens.
