‘Ice Age: Boiling Point’ Release Date and First Look Revealed at CinemaCon

Disney brought a nostalgic crowd-pleaser to CinemaCon with the return of one of its most beloved animated franchises, unveiling new footage from Ice Age: Boiling Point. Set for release on February 5, 2027, the film marks a major comeback for the long-dormant series, with original voice stars Ray Romano, Denis Leary, and Queen Latifah appearing onstage to introduce the first look.

The footage immediately leaned into the franchise’s signature blend of slapstick comedy and environmental chaos, this time with a more intense and unpredictable twist. At the center of the preview, as always, was Scrat, whose endless pursuit of his prized acorn once again sets the tone for the film’s larger stakes.

In the clip, Scrat is teaching his infant child, Baby Scrat, how to bury an acorn. He carefully buries his acorn, only for the ground beneath him to begin reacting in a way the series has never quite explored before—the ice starts to bubble and boil, transforming the familiar frozen landscape into something far more volatile. As the heat intensifies, his acorn is affected by the rising temperature, creating a chaotic and comedic chain reaction that hints at a much bigger environmental shift at play.

That single gag doubles as a thematic signal for the film itself. Where past installments have focused on melting ice or continental drift, Ice Age: Boiling Point appears to push the franchise into a fiery new direction, with the frozen world quite literally heating up.

The imagery of boiling ice suggests a more extreme, almost apocalyptic backdrop, raising the stakes for Manny, Sid, Diego, and the rest of the herd as they navigate a new environment.

While the tone remains comedic, the scale of the changes teased in the footage suggests that Ice Age: Boiling Point is aiming to evolve the franchise visually and thematically. By turning its icy world into something far more dangerous and unpredictable, the film positions itself as both a return to form and a reinvention, using Scrat’s latest misadventure as the spark—quite literally—for a story that looks ready to bring the heat back to theaters.
