Denis Villeneuve Had a Custom Imax Lens Hand-Crafted for ‘Dune: Part Three’

Dune: Part Three is already one of the most hotly anticipated titles of 2026. So, adding some film nerd buzz to the equation can’t hurt for Warner Bros. as they hope to secure the conclusion to the Dune trilogy some Oscar attention. To that end, a piece this weekend reveals that Denis Villeneuve has had a custom Imax lens made for his latest outing. More below.

According to an exclusive from The Hollywood Reporter, Villeneuve had a new Imax lens hand-crafted specifically for shooting Dune: Part Three. Whether we see the difference or not, it continues to show the care taken by Villeneuve in making this franchise. The conclusion of the trilogy will have the same craftsmanship as the prior two, which could bode well for awards season next year. Stay tuned, but even before awards, you’ll be able to see what it was put towards when the movie opens on December 18th.
