My friends and dear readers, from all of us at Awards Radar, we want to once again wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving. As many of you know, not only has it historically been one of my favorite holidays (food, football, and usually a film or two make for a very happy Joey), it’s one that I have developed a new appreciation these days. Of course, Thanksgiving 2020 was, for most even mildly responsible people, a rather muted affair. I know that I made my first ever Thanksgiving dinner then, since it was just not a good idea at all to go see my 80-plus year old grandmother for her delicious cooking. Hell, I still brag about the meal that I made, especially my gravy, which followed her recipe. Still, going back to relative normalcy the past few years has been very good as well, even in the recent holidays I’ve had to adjust in new ways, which I certainly didn’t have on my dance card.
Those changes are, unfortunately, the elephant in the room during the holiday. This year, sadly, will be the third Thanksgiving without my mother, so there will be an empty place setting today that will once again weigh heavily on me. Empty chairs at empty tables, as they said in Les Misérables. I’ll deal, obviously, and I know that I managed the last few years, but it’s a bummer, to say the least. It goes without saying, but I miss you, mom, and your lack of a presence is certainly felt…

On to happier things now. Once again, I also want to take a moment today to majorly shout out the Awards Radar team, with a special extra bit going to my podcast co-host, Myles Hughes, and the behind the scenes maven Steve Prusakowski, the first two staff members to sign on when this website launched in September of 2020. Steve especially deserves another tip of the cap for all the work he does on the back end to make things run, both with the podcast and with our various interviews. Kudos and much obliged!

Once again this year, we can be thankful that we’re here, alive and healthy, doing our best. So, relish the time you’re able to spend with your family that you weren’t a few years ago, or remember the ones that you’ve lost. Of course, still be safe while doing so. Be smart, but have fun. And of course, make sure to check out all of the new movies in theaters and streaming. Keep it here at Awards Radar for more film coverage, but just enjoy your turkey today!
Happy Thanksgiving!
