COVID Era Titles like ‘Pig’ and ‘Red Rocket’ Are Coming Back to Indie Theaters

If you remember 2020 and 2021, one of the big losses for cinema was, aside from big studio box office revenue, independent theaters not being able to capitalize on smaller films in the awards season. These indie movies never got the chance to really break out and catch on, except when they utilized On Demand options at home. Well, the end of 2025 is going to be bringing those titles either to theaters for the first time or back to them. More below,

According to Variety, the ticketing platform Filmbot is going to be doing a “Lost Films of COVID” series in December. The seven indie films being shown as part of this program include Sean Baker‘s Red Rocket, Kelly Reichardt‘s First Cow, and Michael Sarnoski‘s Pig. You can see the full list and where to see them on Filmbot’s site, but cinephiles who missed out on these movies will get another crack at them before the end of the year.
