A Sequel to ‘The Simpsons Movie’ is a Go With 2027 Release Date Planned

Twenty years after The Simpsons Movie was released, Disney has announced a sequel to one of the most successful animated films ever made, until Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle set new records for the highest-grossing animated film based on a television series.

Plot details for this latest theatrical expansion of the hit FOX television series are not yet known, with only the release date of July 23, 2027, announced to generate excitement that, yes, Matt Groening is indeed hard at work on a sequel to the movie.

The first Simpsons Movie grossed over $536 million worldwide and received numerous award nominations, including at the Golden Globes for Best Animated Feature Film. The sequel comes on the heels of 37 seasons on television, as the longest-running American sitcom, American animated series, and scripted primetime television show.
