Earlier this morning, Netflix released the official trailer for Jay Kelly, the new film from Noah Baumbach. Having played at the Venice Film Festival, Telluride Film Festival, and New York Film Festival so far, it’s hoping to have a run deep into Oscar season. Baumbach directs a screenplay he wrote with Emily Mortimer, who also has a small role the movie. In addition to George Clooney in the title role and Adam Sandler in the prime supporting role, the cast includes Laura Dern, Billy Crudup, Riley Keough, Grace Edwards, Stacy Keach, Jim Broadbent, Patrick Wilson, Eve Hewson, Greta Gerwig, Alba Rohrwacher, Josh Hamilton, Isla Fisher, Louis Partridge, Charlie Rowe, and more. Back at Telluride, our own Joey Magidson saw the film and raved about it here, saying it was a “funny and soulful gem.” Netflix will put Jay Kelly into select theaters on November 14th before it streams on their platform on December 5th.
This is the log line from Netflix: “JAY KELLY, the new film from Academy Award nominee Noah Baumbach, follows famous movie actor, Jay Kelly (George Clooney), as he embarks on a journey of self discovery confronting both his past and present, accompanied by his devoted manager Ron (Adam Sandler). Poignant and humor filled, epic and intimate, JAY KELLY is pitched at the intersection of life’s regrets and notable glories.”
