As Nuremberg had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and received strong reviews, Gold Derby has learned that its two primary stars, Russell Crowe and Rami Malek, will be submitted for consideration in the Best Actor category for awards in the upcoming season. Crowe plays Hermann Göring, Adolf Hitler’s second-in-command, while Malek portrays Dr. Douglas Kelley, who evaluated the mental health of the Nazi prisoners who stood trial in Nuremberg.
Additionally, Richard E. Grant, Michael Shannon, John Slattery, and Leo Woodall will be submitted for Best Supporting Actor. The categories may be subject to change, but it looks like Nuremberg is already being positioned as a strong contender for Sony Pictures Classics. The movie will also be submitted in the Best Picture, Best Director (James Vanderbilt), and Best Adapted Screenplay categories.
Nuremberg was met with a strong, positive reception from critics, and at TIFF, it received a four-minute standing ovation, one of the festival’s longest. It will be released in theatres on November 7, as the Awards season will be in full swing. Keep an eye out for more updates soon!

Good for them. It’s always commendable to see an Oscar campaign show some integrity in a time when category fraud isn’t just tolerated but outright encouraged.
