Nicolas Cage is in Talks to Star in ‘True Detective’ Season Five

Here is a potential pairing of star and show that are both having renaissances of sorts. The last few years have been very kind to Nicolas Cage, who has been getting some newfound respect, with roles like Pig. At the same time, True Detective has gone from prestige television, to an afterthought, to well regarded again. So, putting them together just makes sense, and HBO clearly agrees.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cage is in talks to join the fifth season of True Detective. He would follow in the tradition of A-list talent to headline the show, including Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in season one, Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, and Vince Vaughn in season two, Mahershala Ali in season three, and Jodie Foster in season four.
