Official Trailer Released for ‘Eddington’ from Ari Aster

After a debut at the Cannes Film Festival last month, A24 has released an official first trailer for Ari Aster’s Eddington. The auteur behind Hereditary, Midsommar, and Beau is Afraid looks at America during COVID with a 2020-set modern western. Reviews out of Cannes confirmed that nobody is making movies quite like Aster.

This is what A24 has to say about the film’s plot:

In May of 2020, a standoff between a small-town sheriff (Joaquin Phoenix) and mayor (Pedro Pascal) sparks a powder keg as neighbor is pitted against neighbor in Eddington, New Mexico.

Aster writes and directs. The cast, in addition to Pascal and Phoenix, includes Austin Butler, Luke Grimes, Deirdre O’Connell, Emma Stone, and Micheal Ward. The movie is scheduled to be released on July 18th in theaters.
