Snoop Dogg Biopic to Be Directed by Craig Brewer

Universal is hard at work on a biopic of rapper Snoop Dogg, a film that would trace his unlikely rise to superstardom. A screenplay by Joe Robert Cole has been penned, but no director or cast had been set up yet. Well, the former is now in the fold, as you’ll see below.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Craig Brewer has been lined up to direct the movie. Brewer is planning to do a rewrite of Cole’s script, which would then lead to casting. The Hustle & Flow filmmaker, also responsible for work like Black Snake Moan and Dolemite is My Name is a very interesting choice for a musical biopic, as he has experience in both sides of this coin. More as the project develops.
