Netflix Has Bought Richard Linklater’s ‘Nouvelle Vague’ After Cannes

The Cannes Film Festival may have come to an end over the weekend, but the week has begun with one of the more well liked movies finding a home. Going into Cannes, Richard Linklater‘s Nouvelle Vague was one of the more intriguing acquisition titles. After several other films found a home during the festival, now this one has as well, in a fairly large deal, too.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix has picked up Linklater’s movie. Nouvelle Vague didn’t win anything at Cannes, but was one of the most widely praised of the festival, so much like with Hit Man in the fall of 2023, strong festival word has gotten the streamer to make another deal with Linklater. Look for it to get a qualifying theatrical run this year before landing on Netflix.
