It sounds like Damien Chazelle is gassing up his next project, which is set to be a biopic of daredevil Evel Knievel. Paramount is on board and is looking to get Leonardo DiCaprio, as we’ve previously reported, to sign on officially in the lead role. Now, it sounds like a recent Oscar winner could be in line to take a plum supporting gig.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Adrien Brody has met with Chazelle about playing author and promoter Shelly Saltman. He and Knievel have some history, as it were, so Brody going up against DiCaprio has a lot of promise. It sounds like Brody is waiting to see if DiCaprio comes aboard for real, which would get the film moving quickly. The movie has a screenplay by William Monahan, Chazelle ready to go, and if casting comes together, could begin shooting by the summer. More on this one hopefully soon.
