Flying a little bit below the radar for this year is the upcoming collaboration between director Darren Aronofsky and star Austin Butler. They’re teaming up for the crime film Caught Stealing, an adaptation of the book of the same name. Well, a 2025 release has always been planned, but now we know specifically when it’s going to be hitting theaters.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony has dated the movie for August 29th. That date suggests perhaps more of a populist bent to the film than an awards season play, but anything is possible. Aronofsky directs the adaptation of the Charlie Huston novel, with Huston writing the script as well. THR states that Butler’s role is as Hank Thompson, a down-on-his-luck former baseball player suddenly immersed in the New York City criminal underworld of the 1990s. The cast also features Zoë Kravitz, Regina King, Liev Schreiber, Matt Smith, and Bad Bunny. Mark your calendars accordingly.
