South of Hope Street is Angelo Boffa‘s first film. In fact, it’s his first time in front of a camera. Appearing alongside veterans like William Baldwin, Michael Madsen, and Judd Nelson, Boffa acts and produces here, moving into this world from the world of real estate. Nominated for Best Emerging Performance at the Terra di Siena International Film Festival, he’s already made an impact. The movie is available on Amazon and recently, we spoke to Boffa about this exciting transition.
Here is our conversation:
HOW DID YOU MOVE FROM REAL ESTATE TO ACTING/PRODUCING?
I was introduced to the American Director Jane Spencer by the Swiss Producer Patricia Reinhart—Fässler at the Cannes Film Festival. Jane was looking for an actor who could play a European Professor with an elegant Italian look in her upcoming movie “South of Hope Street” – and the rest was history.
DID YOU USE ANY SKILLS FROM YOUR PAST LIFE IN BUSINESS IN YOUR CURRENT CAREER IN THE ARTS?
As producer I definitely now benefit from the skillset and experience as an Entrepreneur, especially regarding actually making things happen and not only just talking about making things happen.
As an actor I have to rely completely on my instincts. All I can do technically is make sure that I am well prepared with my lines. Of course, the fact of being more seasoned in life and therefore having a solid fundamental personality wise helps a lot. The rest has to come naturally.
DID ANY OF YOUR FELLOW ACTORS HELP YOU ON SET?
Definitely William Baldwin contributed significantly with his more than 30 years of experience,
HOW DID IT FEEL TO BE NOMINATED FOR EMERGING PERFORMANCE FOR YOUR FIRST FILM?
I am still processing it and have to let sink in the fact that I am nominated for two awards with my very first movie. (Update: Boffa won both Best Emerging Performance and Best International Actor at the November 9 ceremony in Siena, Italy)
WHAT KINDS OF MOVIES WOULD YOU LIKE TO APPEAR IN OR MAKE IN THE FUTURE?
I am very open to look into different projects which could fit for my next roles. As I would classify myself as the type of actor who knows what range I can cover and what roles to accept in order to deliver proper or outstanding performances. I also look forward to producing films which speak to me as an actor and creator.
DREAM COLLABORATORS?
After doing this wonderful independent production I am open for both independent or big studio productions. In a nutshell: Angelo Boffa is ready!

Fantastic interview!
