‘Gladiator III’ Could Be in the Works, Says Ridley Scott

On the heels of Gladiator II‘s release, Ridley Scott has told The Hollywood Reporter that he is interested in making Gladiator III, when asked about any potential projects in the works. Moreover, Scott also added that there is already an idea for a third movie, though nothing else was revealed on the matter.

Gladiator III could be made, provided the second installment does well, but Scott is also attached to helm a Bee Gees biopic, which will likely be his next project. However, it’s certainly exciting to see the filmmaker discuss the potential for a third film when Gladiator II was not that strong of a possibility after the first one was made.

Gladiator II will see Paul Mescal star as Lucius, son of Lucilla, who, after being forced into slavery, becomes a gladiator under the teachings of Macrinus, played by Denzel Washington. Connie Nielsen, Lior Raz, Derek Jacobi, Pedro Pascal, Fred Hechinger, Joseph Quinn, May Calamawy, Peter Mensah, and Matt Lucas are also part of the supporting cast. The film will be released in theatres on November 22.
