Netflix Unveils First Trailer for ‘Emilia Pérez’ and Gives Us a Look at Jacques Audiard’s Cannes Award-Winning Film

The first trailer for Emilia Pérez has been released online. Written and directed by Jacques Audiard, the film stars Karla Sofía Gascón, Zoe Saldaña, Selena Gomez, Adriana Paz, and Edgar Ramírez. It premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Jury Prize alongside its female ensemble winning the Best Actress award as well.

Here is the plot synopsis:

“From renegade auteur Jacques Audiard comes Emilia Pérez, an audacious fever dream that defies genres and expectations. Through liberating song and dance and bold visuals, this odyssey follows the journey of four remarkable women in Mexico, each pursuing their own happiness. The fearsome cartel leader Emilia (Karla Sofía Gascón) enlists Rita (Zoe Saldaña), an unappreciated lawyer stuck in a dead-end job, to help fake her death so that Emilia can finally live authentically as her true self.”

You can watch the trailer below and see the movie in select theatres on November 1st. It streams on Netflix on November 13th:
