Jimmy Kimmel Will Not Host 2025 Oscars While John Mulaney Declines As Well

As preperations for the 97th Academy Awards are well underway, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that ABC has made an offer for Jimmy Kimmel to return as host, after previously doing so for the past two years. However, the late-night talk show host has reportedly declined to return, as he did with the Emmy Awards, which will also air on ABC.

Similarly, John Mulaney, who hosted last year’s Governors Awards, has also declined to host the upcoming edition of the Oscars, after a formal offer was made. Though the comedian/actor has said on multiple occasions that he would be willing to host, he has decided to pass for the upcoming edition.

This still, however, gives the Academy and ABC plenty of time to find a new, and hopefully fresher, host that could bring back the broadcasting ceremony to its glory days, after two well-received, but ultimately disappointing performances from Kimmel.

The 97th Oscars will air on March 2, 2025 on ABC.
