Jason Reitman’s ‘Saturday Night’ Gets Awards-Friendly Release Date

For months now, Joey has been an outlier in terms of his Oscar predictions, having Jason Reitman‘s SNL 1975 in his Best Picture lineup. Well, maybe he knew something others didn’t or he just had some solid prognosticator’s intuition, because it looks like the film is not just coming out, it has a prime awards season release date, alongside a new title.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie is now going by Saturday Night and will hit theaters on October 11th. That suggests we’ll see it at either the Telluride Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, or perhaps both. Reitman’s look at the creation of the first Saturday Night Live episode features Gabriel LaBelle as creator Lorne Michaels, Cooper Hoffman as NBC executive Dick Ebersol, and Rachel Sennott as Michaels’ ex-wife and SNL writer Rosie Shuster. It sounds like a potential player, so stay tuned.
