Awards Radar Podcast #196: Joey and Myles Look Back on the First Half of the Year Before Talking New Releases

Welcome back to the Awards Radar Podcast. In each episode, Editor Joey Magidson (that’s me!) will be joined by some of the staff of Awards Radar to talk about the latest in film, television, and entertainment in general. The show will obviously have an awards season slant to it, but we won’t forget about other movies and shows, that’s for sure!

For episode 196, I’m joined once again by my co-host Myles Hughes, with fellow co-host Steve Prusakowski continuing to handle the behind the scenes Emmy coverage, which we’ve recently wrapped Phase One on. This week, Myles and I are back, catching up on a ton of new releases, as well as backtracking a bit, too. The titles include shared takes on Kinds of Kindness (review) and A Quiet Place: Day One (review), as well as MaXXXine (review). I also finally see Myles’ beloved Hundreds of Beavers (review), while he regales me with his takes on Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1, Kill, and Problemista, in addition to my briefly mentioning Fly Me to the Moon (review). Plus, we both share our bests of the first half of the year lists (mine is written up here). We even rank the work of Yorgos Lanthimos, which I already wrote about recently here. Throw in awards talk and your questions, and wouldn’t you know it, it’s a nice one long to start off the second half with…

As always my friends and faithful listeners/readers, I do hope you all enjoy the latest episode of the Awards Radar Podcast, our 196th one to date (here’s to many more). Of course, feel free to revisit the previous installments by clicking the Podcast tab (here) on the top of the page. Plus, listen to us on Apple Podcasts (iTunes), Spotify, and other platforms. More to come each and every single week, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you for listening!
