When properly utilized, Ryan Reynolds is one of the most entertaining actors to watch. This week, Reynolds shows up in IF (reviewed here), where he’s not especially well utilized, but it’s still a pleasure to see him on the screen. So, I wanted to focus on the positive today and include Reynolds in my recent run of rankings. You might not initially think that he has enough quality work, but I can assure you, he really does…
Below, you can see how Reynolds stacks up for me. I’m very partial to his Deadpool persona, so that’s a factor here, as is some of his earlier comedic roles. I also enjoy when he gives you a different look, like with Adventureland or Buried. So, there’s actually plenty to choose from. Hell, maybe you’ll love him in IF? There’s nothing wrong with that, even if I’m not quite on board with that take. Perhaps the list will need updating after Deadpool & Wolverine, but for now, this is where I stand.
Here now is how I would rank the best Ryan Reynolds performances so far:
Honorable Mention: Buying the Cow, Deadpool 2, National Lampoon’s Van Wilder, The Proposal, and Smokin’ Aces
10. Definitely, Maybe
9. The Nines
8. Free Guy
6. Waiting…
5. Mississippi Grind
4. Adventureland
3. The Voices
2. Deadpool
1. Buried

I think you need to rewatch Smoking Aces, it should have definitely made this list. There’s a few movies here where he just plays himself. Though Deadpool is rightfully on the list
I don’t know that he plays himself, though you could say they’re similar types. But hey, if I enjoy that type, and it’s my list, nothing wrong with including them. Also, if you look, Smokin’ Aces is an honorable mention, so it made the list, in a way.
