After the Oscars conclude, the Academy tends to take a look at themselves and potentially tinkers with their rules. This year’s Academy Awards was no exception, as the Film Academy has released some updates today in regards to how they do things.
According to The Hollywood Reporter and Scott Feinberg, the Academy is working on keeping movie theaters a part of the qualification process for the Oscars, alongside things like allowing animated films submitted in the Best International Feature category to also be eligible for Best Animated Feature. The Best Original Score shortlist is increasing to twenty titles, up from fifteen, while the special Oscars are getting a facelift. Read the full list at THR, but while you likely won’t notice many of these touches, hopefully they all lead to a continually great show.
