The Sunday Scaries are upon us once again! Yes, as the weekend concludes, most of us feel an oncoming sense of anticipatory dread about the week ahead. Anxiety about work manifests itself into a feeling that’s known as the Sunday Scaries. However, we at Awards Radar are here to combat that, by taking back the name. Now, we want you think about a horror-centric piece on the site when you hear the term. So, let us continue on with another installment of the Awards Radar Sunday Scaries! Today, we’re looking at redlines for our own horror intake…
A few days ago, the trailer dropped for Sting. You can see it here, but I sure haven’t. We all have things we can’t deal with when it comes to horror. For me, spiders are a no-go. Arachnophobia? Terrifying. Eight Legged Freaks? Nope. Hell, I’m even going to struggle with the spider-like alien in Spaceman next month. That got me thinking, however, and an Awards Radar Community Question was born. What are your no-goes for horror?
For some, it’s spiders like me. The aforementioned titles are just some of the ones that would make you break out in a cold sweat, if so. There’s also snakes, which are a common one. My mother couldn’t deal with them, so the idea of Anaconda or Snakes on a Plane was anathema to her. If that’s you as well, let us know and also detail how you deal with it. It could also be something seemingly more innocent, like cats or dogs. If so, I’m sure Cujo would be a big struggle. Even if these don’t both most, if you’re one of them, there’s no reason to be shy. Tell us about it!
There’s also the creature angle. Maybe it’s aliens, so Alien would be the worst thing to ever struggle through. Perhaps it’s just monsters in general? It’s all just whatever hits you in exactly the right (or wrong?) way, so there’s literally no wrong answer here. If it scares you, it scares you. That’s just horror movie life.
