The Spice Must Flow — and the First Reactions to ‘Dune: Part Two’ Are Here!

Denis Villeneuve‘s Dune: Part Two is getting overwhelmingly positive reactions, based on its first impressions from critics who had the chance to see the movie during advance screenings. Several audience members will also be able to see the movie early (provided there are still any tickets left), as IMAX will be hosting a “Fan First Premiere Event” on February 25th, a week before its March 1 release.

Our very own Joey Magidson saw the movie early and states it is “impressively large in scope and rarely lets up in intensity.” You can check out his full reaction below, which you can compare to his TIFF review here of the first film:

After a rather slow opening for blockbusters in 2024, Dune: Part Two looks to be the epic cinemas need early in the year, highlighted by several early reactions that beg audiences to see the movie on the biggest screen possible. You can check out several of them below:



Some reactions, however, were a bit more critical than others. Puck News’ Scott Mendelson praised the film’s technical scope but found the movie to run out of steam at its halfway mark:
