The ‘Fantastic Four’ Cast is Here!

In a surprise announcement on Valentine’s Day, Marvel revealed the cast for its take on The Fantastic Four!

Directed by Matt Shakman, with a screenplay written by Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer, the movie will see Pedro Pascal portray Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, with Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach rounding up its lead cast as Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/The Human Torch, and Ben Grimm/The Thing, respectively.

This is not the first time the Fantastic Four have appeared in the MCU, with John Krasinski previously portraying a variant of Mr. Fantastic in Sam Raimi‘s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. In that specific movie, Benedict Cumberbatch‘s Doctor Strange, asked if the Fantastic Four charted in the 1960s. While that could be perceived as a funny joke, it seems to have planted the seeds for the movie’s setting, which can be seen in its first-look poster below:

The movie has also moved release dates with Thunderbolts, which was initially slated to release on July 25, 2025. The Fantastic Four will now take its place, with Thunderbolts moved up to May 2, 2025. Captain America: Brave New World and Blade are also expected to release during that year, but extensive retooling on both projects has continuously delayed release dates, so expect one of those films to likely shift.

While the plot details of the movie are currently under wraps, the poster gives a few hints of what it could be about: set during the core of the Space Race in 1963, with H.E.R.B.I.E. also appearing. Who will be the main villain of the film? Who knows, but it most likely will not be Doctor Doom. Something bigger could make its MCU before Doom. Who that is will remain to be seen, but it’s certainly an exciting announcement after months (if not years) of speculation. These theories are finally laid to rest.
