When you think of actress Kerry Condon, you probably think of her voice. She, as many of you know, is the voice of Friday (well, F.R.I.D.A.Y. to be precise) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So, while she’s not on screen, she’s made her mark. Now, with The Banshees of Inisherin out in theaters, she has her best showcase yet, in a plum supporting role opposite stars Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson. Last week, I spoke to McDonagh here and Barry Keoghan here, while yesterday brought a conversation with Ben Davis here, who also has a strong repeat Marvel connection. Today, Condon is up to bat!
This here is more of what I had to say about The Banshees of Inisherin out of TIFF:
Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson are at the tops of their respective games, clearly enjoying their time with McDonagh. It may be a feel bad movie, but they’re both relishing the juicy roles. Farrell is thrilled to be playing a goodhearted dolt, while Gleeson has made quiet sadness his calling card. Both are at their best. Kerry Condon and Barry Keoghan deliver the sort of essential supporting roles that the Academy too often ignores, but they certainly shouldn’t.
Below, you can hear my chat with Condon. I was keen to ask about her experience here, after a very different sort of role in the MCU. Personally, I loved finding out her perspective on it all, which is quite refreshing. Plus, she’s rather good in The Banshees of Inisherin, rightly having her in the Oscar conversation. Be sure to see the movie, but also be sure to listen to Condon and I chatting about it…
Here now is my interview with The Banshees of Inisherin co-star Kerry Condon. Enjoy:
