Keanu Reeves will be starring in the Hulu original series Devil in the White City, an adaptation of Erik Larson‘s book of the same name. The series was in development since 2010 when Leonardo DiCaprio optioned the book. Reeves’ appearance in the series will mark his biggest TV role to date.
The series will be written, created, and executive produced by Sam Shaw, with Martin Scorsese, DiCaprio, Jennifer Davisson, Rick Yorn, Stacey Sher, Todd Field, and Mark Lafferty. Scorsese was initially tapped to direct the feature film adaptation of the book in 2010, with DiCaprio to star, but Reeves will be playing the character DiCaprio was supposed to play.
Todd Field will direct all episodes as a joint venture between Paramount Television and ABC Signature Studios. Reeves will be playing Daniel H. Burnham, “a demanding but visionary architect who races to make his mark on history with the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair, and Dr. H. H. Holmes, America’s first modern serial killer and the man behind the notorious “Murder Castle” built in the fair’s shadow.”
