When you watch Don’t Make Me Go, you immediately can tell that it’s a Hannah Marks film (and you’ll hear my interview with her tomorrow). You also quickly notice not just that John Cho is getting to really show off his skills in a different way than normal, as well as that his younger co-star, Mia Isaac, is going to be a star. While they were all in town to help launch the movie at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival, I was able to arrange some (in person!) time with the trip to talk about the flick. As mentioned above, my latest chat with Marks comes your way tomorrow. Today, however, I’m discussing Don’t Make Me Go with Cho and Isaac. Strap in for a pair of interviews about a title I couldn’t love more!
Below, you can hear my conversation with Cho and Isaac. We talk about what attracted them to Marks’ film, how they built up their father/daughter chemistry, and much more. For the former, it’s a different role than we usually see from him. For the latter, it’s an introduction, one which certainly suggests an exciting career to come. I loved the movie back at the Tribeca Film Festival and now that it’s coming to Prime Video this weekend, you’ll get to find out why.
In my rave review of Don’t Make Me Go from Tribeca (here), I had this to say about the duo:
John Cho and Mia Isaac are terrific here. Their chemistry is magnificent, both with each other and with the other characters they interact with. Cho especially has a great vibe with Kaya Scodelario, who is a secret weapon. Scodelario’s playing a role Marks could have aced herself, but it’s great seeing her here, even if it’s a smaller part. Cho is terrific at mixing his emotion and humor, while Isaac, in her debut role, is a revelation. There’s a lot on her shoulders, but it never weighs her down.
Here now is my interview with Don’t Make Me Go stars John Cho and Mia Isaac. Enjoy:
