‘Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical’ to Have Its World Premiere as the Opener of the BFI London Film Festival

We don’t know a ton about how the fall festival season will shake out, aside from Netflix launching Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival (as we detailed here). That TIFF announcement aside, much of the impending festival season is a mystery. Well, Netflix has clued us in to a bit more of how that part of the year will look, as they’ve announced where Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical will be making its World Premiere.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the BFI London Film Festival has selected the movie as its opener for 2022. If all goes well, perhaps Netflix will have a player on their hands? Either way, it’s a lively selection to kick off the festival, which runs from October 5th until the 16th. Stay tuned for more on Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical once it screens on the 5th, but this is certainly a good get for the London Film Festival this year!
