Adam Sandler and The Safdie Brothers are Working on a New Project

This is how we all win. It was reported yesterday, from a piece that dealt with why Hollywood cannot connect movie stars with the filmmakers they deserve, on IndieWire, that Adam Sandler and the Safdie Brothers (Josh and Benny) are currently working on another project together. They collectively worked on Uncut Gems in 2019, which led to massive critical acclaim and awards push for Adam Sandler, in a career-best role.

The article says: “That’s Adam Sandler realizing, at a turning point in his career, that he needed the Safdie brothers and “Uncut Gems” as much as they and the project needed him. He still does, between his parade of lowbrow Netflix efforts: Sources tell me Sandler and the Safdies are already cooking up another project.”

Nothing else is mentioned, but the thought of Sandler re-teaming with the Safdie brothers for anything really is very exciting, considering the fact that Uncut Gems was the best thing the actor had done in decades, after starring in a slew of critical failures, even if some of them were commercial successes. Benny Safdie is currently working on Oppenheimer with Christopher Nolan and will star in Obi-Wan Kenobi next month, while the brothers will start production soon on the Showtime TV series titled The Curse, starring Nathan Fielder, Emma Stone, and Benny.
