‘Dune’ Cleans Up At 20th Visual Effects Society Awards

Dune was a risky project for Denis Villeneuve, but big risks also have big rewards. The first part in the sci-fi epic took home four statues at the 20th annual Visual Effects Society Awards, including ‘Outstanding Visual Effects in a Photoreal Feature.’

The Beverly Hilton played host to the ceremony on Tuesday that celebrates visual effects in film, television, video games, and more. Among the film winners were Spider-Man: No Way Home, Disney’s Jungle Cruise, and Edgar Wright’s time-travel horror Last Night in Soho. Lucasfilm’s Lynwen Brennan and director Guillermo del Toro took home honorary prizes.
