Steven Spielberg to Develop New Movie Based on Frank Bullitt

For those who thought that The Fablemans was to be Steven Spielberg‘s last movie, think again! The Academy Award-nominated filmmaker is also attached to direct a feature film on…Frank Bullitt??

That’s right, the popular titular character that solidified Steve McQueen‘s action movie star status, of the 1968 Peter Yates film of the same name, is getting a new original story. Yates’ Bullitt is considered to be one of the greatest action films of all time, as it contains the single greatest car chase ever conceived.

The movie would not be a sequel, nor a remake, but a brand-new story centered on the character, developed by Spielberg. No script and/or deal was finalized, but the film will be executive produced by Steve McQueen’s son, Chad, and granddaughter, Molly. Josh Singer would be writing the script, should everything be finalized.

This would also not be Spielberg’s next film after The Fablemans, but it’s good to see that he isn’t saying goodbye to filmmaking just yet and has more projects up his sleeve.
