The Academy has found its first hosts in three years! Variety has reported that Regina Hall, Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes are in final talks to host this year’s Academy Awards, which will be a multi-emcee palooza.
Each respective host will emcee the ceremony for one hour, during the 94th Academy Awards which will run at three hours on ABC on March 27th. Several scenarios were in play for the hosts, but Variety’s sources have said that the three actresses were the only emcees in the mix for this year’s ceremony.
One scenario that seems to be the most likely one was a three-act structure, as mentioned above, where one host will emcee an hour, but that may change. Jon Hamm was also in talks to host, but exited talks during the weekend.
The hosts are expected to be announced during tomorrow’s edition of Good Morning America. None of them have officially confirmed that they are indeed hosting, but Schumer posted on Instagram that “big fun news comin’,” foreshadowing tomorrow’s Oscar-related news.
