After three years of hostless Oscars, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is looking to change things up a bit, in an attempt to boost viewership for their 94th edition of the Academy Awards, which broke records for lowest ratings year after year.
It’s with that rationale that the 94th Oscars will have not one, but three hosts this year. Each host will emcee roughly about an hour of the usual three of the ceremony, though it’s unclear which hosts the Academy has in mind.
It was rumored that Only Murders in the Building stars Steve Martin, Selena Gomez, and Martin Short were in the Academy’s discussions for this year’s hosts. They would fit the Multi-Emcee Palooza bit perfectly, but some will say that they’re better together, which is a valid claim.
All we know is that the Academy’s plan is to hire hosts who can attract different demographics, once again to lure viewers into watching the 94th Oscars. The ceremony will be taking place on March 27th, in person at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
