Mary Elizabeth Winstead to Join ‘Ahsoka’

The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Kate and Birds of Prey actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead will be joining the Star Wars universe in the Disney+ series, Ahsoka, set to focus on the titular character portrayed by Rosario Dawson.

It is still unclear which character Winstead will be playing, but she joins an already stacked cast with Dawson, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Rebels‘ Sabine Wren, and Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. The series is being produced by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, who are also both writing the series.

It’s rumored that the show will begin shooting sometime this year, and release in 2023, but none of it has been concretely confirmed by any trade. However, it’s certainly exciting to see Winstead join the Star Wars universe, especially with her partner, Ewan McGregor, who also starred in Birds of Prey, set to reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in a series this year. Could they potentially meet in Ahsoka? Now that can be pretty cool.
