First Trailer for ‘Bel-Air’ Sees a Dramatic Adaptation of the Popular Sitcom

The first trailer for Peacock’s Fresh Prince of Bel-Air dramatic adaptation simply titled Bel-Air has been released. The series, based on a short fan film made in 2019 by Morgan Cooper, imagines a darker, more dramatic version of the popular sitcom starring Will Smith, had been given a two season order by Peacock in September 2020 when Smith himself was attached as an executive producer.

The series stars Jabari Banks, Adrian Holmes, Cassandra Freeman, Olly Sholotan, Coco Jones, Akira Akbar, Jimmy Akingbola, Jordan L. Jones, and Simone Joy Jones. Three episodes will be premiering on February 13 exclusively on Peacock. Here’s the official plot synopsis of the series from a press release:

“Set in modern-day America, Peacock’s new one-hour drama series Bel-Air imagines the beloved sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air through a new, dramatic take on Will’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air. As these two worlds collide, Will reckons with the power of second chances while navigating the conflicts, emotions, and biases of a world far different from the only one he’s ever known. “
