Interview: Spend Some Time at ‘The Tender Bar’ With Tye Sheridan

Tye Sheridan has almost grown up on screen. The past decade has seen him go from a a teenager to a 25 year old man, all while playing characters growing up. Whether it’s his debut in The Tree of Life or his most recent work, The Tender Bar, he’s a compelling presence. Sheridan also knows how to diversify. Who else can boast indie dramas, superhero films, blockbuster Steven Spielberg movies, and just about everything in between? The best is still yet to come for Sheridan, and that’s truly exciting. Last week, I had the opportunity to talk to him about The Tender Bar, and I obviously jumped at the chance. That chat comes your way now.

This is some of what I had to say about The Tender Bar in my rave review here on the site:

Ben Affleck may not be the lead, but he leaves easily the biggest impression in the movie. He’s crafted either the Uncle we fondly remember or the one we wish we’d had. Affleck makes Charlie old school in some ways, but actually fairly modern in others. You hang on every word he says. Truly, this is Affleck in complete mastery of his craft, understanding the character in a very real way. He’s heads and tails best in show, but Daniel Ranieri and Tye Sheridan combine to do good work as our protagonist. Ranieri puts in one of the better performances by a young actor this year, while Sheridan continues to show us new angles to his talents.

Below, you can see my conversation with Sheridan. We talk about The Tender Bar, of course, but also just about what draws him to roles. Throughout the years, he’s largely made impeccable choices, career-wise, so knowing he has good taste made this a fascinating chat. He’s very good in the film, especially in the scenes he shares with Ben Affleck. Plus, Sheridan shares the superhero gene with Affleck and George Clooney, which is interesting as well. He’s a mellow guy, which made for a mellow conversation. Don’t sleep on this movie, as it’s now an incredibly underrated 2021 title. In fact, it may well make my year end top ten list. Check it out in theaters or on Prime Video, but for now, give a look to Sheridan and I…

Here now is my interview with The Tender Bar star Tye Sheridan. Enjoy:

Be sure to check out The Tender Bar in theaters this weekend!
